A useful chickpea RFQ does more than request a caliber and a price. Caliber affects appearance and end use, but it does not reveal purity, moisture, broken material, foreign matter or color consistency. Importers should define the complete commercial lot: type, origin, size, quality limits, crop information, packing and the evidence required before shipment.
Admiral Agro supplies Kabuli and Desi chickpeas in Egyptian or imported origin according to specification and availability. Origin is stated in the quotation and Certificate of Origin. The New Damietta operation cleans, optically sorts and packs confirmed lots for bulk buyers.
Review the current Egyptian Chickpeas product specification before requesting a quotation.
Start with Kabuli or Desi and the Intended Use
Kabuli chickpeas are larger and lighter in color and are commonly selected for hummus, canning and visible retail applications. Desi chickpeas are smaller and darker. The names describe market types, not a complete grade. A buyer should still define size, defects and the desired visual profile, then approve a sample that reflects the actual lot.
End use determines which trade-offs are acceptable. A canner may prioritize uniformity through soaking and cooking. A hummus processor may focus on flavor, hydration and processing consistency. A wholesaler or retail packer may emphasize caliber, color and visual cleanliness. Tell the exporter the use rather than assuming the largest caliber is automatically the best value.
| Decision | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Type | Kabuli or Desi |
| End use | Hummus, canning, retail, wholesale or further processing |
| Origin | Egyptian or named imported origin |
| Sample | Representative of the offered lot |
| Crop | Current available crop and shipment window |
Caliber Must Be Paired with Quality Limits
Admiral Agro's product reference lists 7 mm, 8 mm, 9 mm and 10 mm chickpeas. Caliber should be written as an agreed size or range and checked against the sample. Buyers should also agree how size is measured and how any tolerance is reported; a nominal size without an inspection method can produce disputes.
The current reference parameters are purity of at least 99%, moisture of no more than 13%, foreign matter of no more than 0.5% and broken chickpeas of no more than 2%. These figures are useful for preparing an RFQ, but the sale should be confirmed against the current lot and any required Certificate of Analysis.
A 9 mm label is not a complete chickpea specification. Pair caliber with type, origin, purity, moisture, foreign matter, broken limits and an approved sample.
Inspection, Sorting and Packing Evidence
Cleaning and optical sorting help reduce foreign matter and visible defects, but the commercial proof remains the agreed sample, inspection and lot documents. Ask when the sample was taken, whether it represents the cargo allocated to the order and which parameters will appear on the COA. SGS or Intertek pre-shipment inspection can be arranged on request and should be agreed before loading.
Standard packing is 25 kg or 50 kg PP woven bags, with private-label packing available when applicable. The typical minimum order is one 20ft container. Confirm bag construction, marking, artwork, net weight and any pallet requirement before packing begins.
| Control point | RFQ wording |
|---|---|
| Caliber | 7, 8, 9 or 10 mm; state required tolerance |
| Purity and moisture | Write the maximum or minimum accepted values |
| Defects | State foreign matter and broken limits |
| Packing | 25/50 kg PP woven or approved private label |
| Inspection | Buyer approval, COA and SGS/Intertek if required |
A Complete Chickpea RFQ Checklist
Send the product type, origin preference, caliber, end use, purity, moisture, foreign matter, broken tolerance, quantity and destination port. Add the requested Incoterm, packing format, private-label requirement, shipment window and inspection route. If your factory uses a specific cooking or hydration test, describe the method and acceptance criteria rather than requesting 'good cooking quality.'
FOB Damietta is the standard loading basis, and CFR or CIF can be quoted when applicable. Common documents include the Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, Certificate of Origin and Phytosanitary Certificate, with a COA when required. A clear checklist allows suppliers to quote the same requirement and helps purchasing and quality teams compare offers fairly.
Request a Lot-Specific Quotation
Send the product specification, quantity, destination, packing, shipment window and required documents. The export team will reply against current availability.
