Every pulse shipment from Egypt travels with a core set of documents. Getting them right ensures smooth customs clearance at destination and protects both buyer and seller.
Core commercial documents
- Commercial invoice — the legal record of the sale: parties, product, quantity, price and Incoterm.
- Packing list — bags, net and gross weights, and how the goods are stuffed in the container.
- Bill of lading (B/L) — issued by the shipping line; the document of title used to release the cargo at destination.
Origin and plant-health documents
- Certificate of Origin — certifies the goods are of Egyptian origin, usually issued by a chamber of commerce.
- Phytosanitary Certificate — issued by the plant-quarantine authority, confirming the consignment is free from regulated pests and fit for export.
Quality and religious-compliance documents
- Certificate of Analysis (COA) — the tested specification of the actual shipment (moisture, purity, foreign matter, broken).
- Halal certificate — available on request where required by the destination market.
Optional and destination-specific documents
- Third-party inspection (for example SGS or Intertek) — arranged on request for buyers who want independent pre-shipment verification.
- Fumigation certificate — sometimes required depending on commodity and destination rules.
📋 Tip: tell your supplier your destination country in the RFQ. Requirements differ between the EU, the Gulf and African markets, and confirming early avoids clearance delays.
